What is kitesurfing?

Kitesurfing is the fastest growing sport of recent times. The sport has evolved greatly over the last few years and is becoming safer due to innovations in kite design, safety release systems, and good instruction. There are many aspects to kitesurfing to suit different types of riders and conditions, such as wakestyle, waveriding, freestyle, jumping, and cruising. The relative safety and adaptability in various conditions and surfaces are the reasons this sport is becoming so popular.

Born 2 Ride Kitesurfing School

Born 2 Ride is a kitesurfing school based in Lahinch, County Clare that aims to promote the extreme sport in a safe environment. Established by Oscar Borawski in May 2009, the main purpose of the school is to provide expert instruction and give students an insight into kitesurfing as a way of life.

From a very young age, Oscar has been involved with various kinds of watersports like sailing, surfing, windsurfing, wakeboarding and kitesurfing. After many years of competition involvement, he decided to pass his passion on with the creation of his school. With several qualifications, and experience in teaching in numerous schools throughout Europe, he hopes to apply his expertise by working with those eager to get into the world of kitesurfing. Naturally, he is certified by the International Kiteboarding Organization (IKO).

Oscar is also a qualified surfing, windsurfing, wakeboarding and sailing instructor. If you're looking for any tips or private lessons in other watersports, feel free to contact us.

Location - Lahinch, County Clare

Lahinch is in County Clare, the surf capital of Ireland. Lahinch is a scenic town with renowned restaurants, hotels and hostels and offers its guests a vibrant nightlife. There is a healthy blend of both local and multi-cultural people who share the same love and appreciation for the ocean. The beach itself is exposed to the Atlantic which provides the highest quality waves and strong consistent winds. It also offers a flat-water area which is perfectly suited for beginners and freestyle riders. I assure you, the Kitesurfing experience and time spent in Lahinch will equate to an experience you will never forget.

Although based primarily in Lahinch, we can also arrange to meet at a more suitable location depending on different weather conditions and your ability to travel. Other beaches in the area include Castlegregory, Ballybunion, Tramore, Spanish Point and Kilkee.
